Can you share the story of how  you met?

We met the first week of high school as 12-year-old kids. He asked me out a few weeks later and we had a very innocent dating stint throughout the year. We broke up not long after for silly reasons and were great mates all through the rest of school. We reconnected in 2020 at 24 and that was that – we’ve been obsessed with each other ever since!

What was the proposal like?

A beautiful Friday afternoon  at sunset in March last year,  he took me down to the beach  for drinks and on a walk he  dropped to his knee and I didn’t  hear a word he said. I just  tackled him to the ground.  My sister was hiding behind  a tree ready to take photos  of the whole thing.

How did you feel on the  morning of your wedding?

Very calm and happy.  My girls and I got up to  take an early morning
walk and get coffee together. Everyone was in energetic spirits and made the morning everything I could’ve imagined.

What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme or colour scheme?

I wanted our wedding to have a light, airy, classic feeling. I chose white as the main colour with a little touch of green. I was aiming for a crisp, clean, less is more approach. I loved how it turned out.

What was the most memorable moment of
your wedding day?

I have two. When our two-year old son saw me at the end of the aisle and ran to me to be picked up. We walked together towards my husband.

And the break between our pictures and the reception when it was just the two of us, sitting in the dressing room waiting for our wedding party to join us. We caught up and laughed about all the funny moments of the day and threw together some last minute dance moves for our first dance together.

Why did you decide on Noosa Springs as your venue and why was it perfect for your day?

Matt is an avid golfer. This was the main reason we chose Noosa Springs as our venue. We did a tour and the ceremony spots, sunset lounge and reception hall were all absolutely beautiful. It was convenient we were able to stay at the lovely accommodation on site with golf carts to get around the grounds.

What was the highlight of your ceremony?

Standing together and looking out at all our friends and family was a very special moment. We were also married by our high school teacher so hearing all the personal touches she put into our ceremony script was a real highlight. And, of course, hearing the vows.

Did you incorporate any personal touches or traditions into your wedding?

We have a beautiful tradition in our family where all the women from my mother’s side carry this handmade lace handkerchief, which has been passed down from my great-great-grandmother. My mum made a lovely lace bag out of my dress material to carry it in, which I wore on my wrist for the ceremony.

What was your favourite part of the reception?

Dancing as a family for the last part of our first dance. I held our son and my husband sang to us both.

What advice would you give to couples currently planning their wedding?

Of course it is stressful, but sometimes less is more. Get a notebook and keep lists for everything. Just try to have the most fun with it. Once it’s all over, I promise it will have been worth it. And if you’re thinking of getting a videographer, just do it – it’s worth every cent to have those memories to watch back.

How do you feel now that the big day is behind you and you’re officially married?

It was by far the most fun day we’ve ever had. The little snippets of the day pop into my head almost every day. There is a lovely sense of calm in our home now that we’re officially married.
