Local in the Know: Lisa and Sully Chedanne from Lilya
What is your favourite time of year on the coast and why?
Lisa: Spring… it's when the plants all grow fast and the warmer weather gets everyone out and about. There’s also the anticipation of days at the beach, barbecue’s and holidays!!!
Sully: Winter, because it’s when the weather’s the best! And our old friends the whales are back amongst us.
What do you do to relax on the Sunshine Coast?
Lisa: Swim, walk my dog and see friends.
Sully: Surf and ride my motorcycle around some scenic roads.
When friends and family come and stay, what do you recommend for them to do during their stay on the Sunshine Coast?
Lisa: A walk through the national park in Noosa, dinner at Sunshine Beach, markets, swimming,
Sully: Definitely a walk along the Noosa bays and a visit to the preserved rainforest of Mary Caincross at the back of Maleny.
What is the your favourite aspect about living on the coast?
Lisa: The beaches and the bush… it’s nice to have both right near each other. The affordability to have a lovely house and a pool, seconds from the beach compared to Sydney, where I lived for the past near 20 years.
Sully: For some reason life seems a bit more simple here on the Sunshine Coast. The abundance of nature and wildlife as well as the relaxed atmosphere of the place make it special to us.
What is your idea of a perfect day spent on the Sunshine Coast from dawn to dusk?
Lisa: Breakfast at a café, a few hours at Stumers or the North Shore with our staffy Bob, healthy lunch, afternoon catch up with friends and a cocktail or two!
Sully: Watch the sun rise from the top of Mount Coolum, enjoy a quick coffee at the Caf in Coolum, head up to the points in Noosa for a perfect surf at low tide. Lunch at home in Mount Coolum then a bit of work before a second surf at the front. Finally check out the sunset, whilst chatting to our neighbours looking west over Mount Ninderry.
