Review - Cloud 9

pepper- july 17

BREAKING INTO THE MUSO SCENE delivering unique material is harder than standing out at a music festival. Have you seen some of those outfits?

But the latest Aussie talent from remote Northern Territory, Baker Boy, has nailed it.

The 20-year-old’s debut track, Cloud 9 featuring Kian, is striking a chord with more and more Australians by fusing English with traditional Yolngu Matha language. In fact, he is the first Indigenous rapper to rap in language.

Mixing cultural elements with modern hip-hop, Baker Boy knows his value and is proud of his roots.

As a rapper, dancer and artist, Baker Boy is three times the charm and hopes to inspire younger generations to embrace culture and stand proud of their heritage through his artistic voice.

Delivering a breathe of fresh air with a clear passion for supporting Indigenous communities, this is just the beginning of Baker Boy as he kick-starts his career in the limelight taking out Triple J’s 2017 Unearthed NIMA prize.

We can’t wait to see what Baker Boy is cooking next, whether it be via rap, dance of art, this multi-talented artist is the next big thing in Australian performing arts.
