Corner Store given local revamp

pepper - january 12

THE CORNER STORE IS NEARLY extinct on the Sunshine Coast.

Thanks to our pepper scouts we’ve stumbled upon the newly renovated Shelly Beach Corner store situated on Albert and Alfred Streets, owned and operated by Barry Shaw and Adele Hayes.

It’s a hive of activity; three sun-bleached boys lick ice creams out the front of the shop while their mum purchases local, organic fruit and vegetables from inside.

Customers stream into the store to order coffee, pick fresh herbs or purchase last minute essentials for dinner.

Before the doors open at 6am fresh bread is delivered to the store for early-risers who are in search of a fresh brew, daily newspaper and warm bread.

Alongside the necessary convenience store staples like toilet paper and toothpaste, there is an entire back wall of shelving dedicated to boutique food products.

Foodies will be impressed by the range of gourmet products like jam for your snags, locally made toasted muesli, olive oil hailing from Italy and fancy salad dressings.

The coffee machine positioned at the front of the entrance is on high rotation on weekends and weekdays.

One regular customer walks every morning from her neighboring beach side community of Golden Beach to sip coffee perched outside on the chairs provided.

Visit Shelly Beach Corner Store from 6am to 7pm Monday to Saturday or 6am to 6pm on Sunday. 5309 5804.
